AGA has won a coveted award with the launch of the AGA ERA. The prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024 reaffirms the AGA stove's place as a design icon, but also highlights the brand's focus on innovation.
The award is part of one of the world's most prestigious design competitions and the Red Dot Label is one of the most sought-after quality seals for good design around the world. At the AGA ERA, technology meets design and is perfectly balanced with heritage but also modernity. And it is where glass was first used on a large scale on a stove with heat storage to create a clean, uniform look.
The model has been completely redesigned from the ground up. Glass and chrome are used to stunning effect to create an entirely new feel for a stove with heat storage, and the latest technology is used to make the stove fully equipped and perfect for the true home cook.
Technical director of AGA David Carpenter said, "We believe the AGA ERA is the first stove in the world to combine a highly efficient hot air oven with two cast iron heat storage ovens, making the design not only innovative but also technically challenging. The award recognizes the entire team that worked on the project."
The development of the AGA ERA required new digital electronic controls, a state-of-the-art touch screen user interface and complex software to precisely control all functions. The system continuously monitors oven temperatures, power and safety.
It also offers a highly efficient four-zone induction cooktop, in addition to the more traditional cast-iron AGA cooktop. The ovens are fully programmable via remote control to avoid unnecessary energy consumption.
Every element of the AGA ERA - including the clean lines of the glass-fronted oven doors and ergonomically designed handles - has been carefully designed to create a calm yet modern aesthetic.
Fish & Co-Founder David Fisher, Chief Creative Advisor of AGA, said, "Opportunities to reinvent a British icon like AGA are rare. And so, building on its 100-year legacy, the time was ripe for a new era, merging its rich heritage with contemporary lifestyles and modern aesthetics. I am very proud to have provided the design vision and to continue working with such an expert team.
