This month, the 1 millionth dishwasher 'rolls off the assembly line' at Pelgrim

Some 30 years ago, Dutch kitchen brand Pelgrim was one of the first brands to launch a line of built-in dishwashers. This month, the 1 millionth dishwasher will be made in the Pelgrim factory, equipped with innovative features such as FanDry and Smart technology. 

Johan van Gompel, Business Manager at Pelgrim and with the company for 33 years, remembers well when the first dishwashers were sold in the Netherlands. 'Back then it really was a luxury product, back then 2 out of 10 households had a dishwasher, now almost everyone does. A big difference is that dishwashers are now more spacious, more energy efficient and also much quieter.'

In 1992, Pelgrim was the first brand to launch an integrated dishwasher on the Dutch market, causing explosive sales numbers. Since then, there have been many ongoing developments. Pelgrim's latest dishwasher line can be set using a smartphone or tablet, and FanDry technology ensures that everything, even plastic, is completely dry. In addition, there are models that take care of the right dosage of detergent themselves with AutoDose.
