Sometimes a kitchen is packed with appliances and accessories. So many that the overview is sometimes hard to find. The solution is simple: put it all, or as much as possible, away in cabinets and drawers. But what if the available storage space is not enough? Van Hoecke gives us some tips for creating extra storage space in a kitchen.
Anyone who has a small(er) kitchen probably knows its biggest problem. Right, a lack of storage space. But a kitchen really doesn't have to be big to be practical and ergonomic. Even in kitchens in an apartment, studio or vacation rental, a few interventions are enough to create sufficient storage space. "Use more drawers," gives Dyonisa Van de Velde of Van Hoecke as her first tip. "After all, in cabinets with shelves, we see that often only the first 30% of the cabinet is used. What is more towards the back is less accessible and ergonomic to grab. Drawers provide a convenient overview because you can see the entire contents more easily. Go for wide drawers instead of several narrow ones. One wide drawer provides 15% extra storage space compared to two narrow drawers."
Cabinets are of course needed in every kitchen and therefore also in kitchens with a smaller area. The solution is then obvious. "Work in height," Dyonisa teaches us. "Overhead cabinets provide a lot of extra space without losing space in the kitchen layout in the process. Folding doors that swing open to the top avoid banging your head against an open door." She immediately continues with another kitchen tip: "The secret to a perfectly organized kitchen? Working with kitchen zones. Handy for keeping a clear overview while minimizing the distances you travel in the kitchen. And you already come a long way by providing at least one cabinet in each zone."
An upper cabinet is not always easy to reach. After all, we're not all the same height. Convenient to "hide" stuff from the kids, not so convenient when you need to grab something there. "But our Space Step helps get rid of this problem," comes Dyonisa with the solution. "On the one hand, this handy step allows you to reach the upper cabinets. On the other hand, Space Step provides additional storage space in the base itself thanks to a sliding drawer. And for those who don't have a separate storage room or pantry at all, we have the Space Tower. This tall cabinet with inner drawers can hold a lot of supplies, up to 70 kg per drawer. Even beverage bottles can be stored in the Space Tower. Extra advantage: you can always see your stock because you work with drawers. No more worries about forgotten products that are thus expired."
