If, as a manufacturer, you have an eye for the future from a green entrepreneurial spirit, it is no surprise that at some point you manage to market a 100% recyclable kitchen worktop. Speaking is Ben van Elk, responsible for marketing at Dekker Zevenhuizen. "This sustainable kitchen worktop, Cosmolite, consists for 100% of minerals from industrial natural stone waste with binding resin. It has the same properties and appearance as composite stone. The collection includes several colors so there is a durable kitchen countertop for any kitchen, in any style!"
Ben is happy to explain how the process works. "From Cosmolite's base material, the stone waste, plates are pressed one at a time, creating beautiful, long-veined patterns. We then process those slabs into a kitchen worktop. Note: So we are talking about a kitchen worktop that can be recycled endlessly. After use, the material is crushed, after which it can be reused to make new kitchen countertops. The sum is great profit: never more waste!"
The combination of minerals from industrial waste (read: residual material from the stone industry), binding resins and the manufacturing process ensure that the sheet is not porous. This is exactly why it is suitable for use in the kitchen. "For the surface, there are two different finishes: polished (p) and grain (g). The top thickness is standard 12 mm, but the top can also be finished with an edge up to as much as 100 mm thick."
Cleaning Cosmolite is no problem at all, according to Ben. "So: practical in maintenance! In daily use, you clean it
kitchen countertop clean with soapy water after which you dry it with a cloth. It's that simple."-
