Jeroen Smeets, co-owner of PaletteCAD: " We are working with the German company HottScan, to enable 3D surveying with PaletteCAD. Of course there are other companies that can do this, but their output consists of pointcloud data. We cannot import those, because they are very large files, and because PaletteCAD itself cannot translate the point cloud into a usable space with solid 3D elements. Nor does the PaletteCAD user need 99% of that data at all. We are therefore very happy with HottScan. This company's room scanner scans a room and stores all the dimensions. Because of the technology used, so-called "blind spots" are no problem at all. The software recognizes walls and understands that they simply continue behind obstacles such as wall decorations and banners. It then creates a complete space consisting of solid 3D objects and exports it in IFC format. Ideal for PaletteCAD, then, since this can be imported directly as an intelligent space!"
The new feature can save the kitchen builder a lot of time, Jeroen said. "Scanning a kitchen only takes five minutes. Then the rest of the work can be done in the office, you never have to go back and the error rate is reduced to almost zero." Taking advantage of the new capability can be done by purchasing a HottScan measuring device, for example through PaletteCAD. "There are two versions, a basic version of €3,999 euros and €7,999 euros for the most comprehensive version. This is a hefty sum, but this makes HottScan a cheaper provider, especially compared to companies that work on the basis of point cloud data." PaletteCAD has been working with HottScan since July and will hold its first hands-on seminar in September. "Of course, we will also produce new explainer videos about this new capability. They will then appear on PaletteUniversity."
Often the PaletteCAD user is looking for more features, but sometimes less is better. Therefore, a low-threshold entry-level version of the software will also be available this year. "Although our software is very intuitive, we find that not all employees of a company want to use all the features. Or simply don't need them. That's why we are coming out with PaletteRooms, a lightweight version of PaletteCAD. With this software you can create a design, for example of a kitchen, in a few minutes. For the consumer, an idea then immediately becomes visual. If necessary, the design created can be further developed in the full version of PaletteCAD. With this we are different from other providers, it is still possible later to create a professional installation drawing." The expected release of PaletteRooms is in September. "With this, we offer a combination of convenience and speed without the need for training. This allows companies to make a professional stroke with ease. The software is available 'standalone,' or in conjunction with PaletteCAD. At a competitive price, of course."
